In The Beginning

Yorkshire French was founded by Paul Ridley in 2006, after a growing demand for private tuition from students who had completed their studies but wanted to continue learning at their own pace.

Yorkshire French has equally assisted businesses who required staff members to become competent in French, whether at a basic or advanced level to help improve international communications.

Having taken on a 2 year project based in Algiers, I decided it was time to improve my French. An on-line search brought me to Paul and Yorkshire French. Before meeting Paul, my standard of French could best be described as basic. I am so pleased with the progress I have made. Paul’s style is both professional and friendly. His training is structured, thorough and well planned in advance. He uses a wide variety of training techniques to keep things interesting. As a result of my frequent travels to Algeria, he has been able to flexibly accommodate my availability. Whatever your level, I would thoroughly recommend Paul and Yorkshire French if you want to improve your language skills.

Having had a second home in the south of France for a number of years we wanted to progress beyond our restaurant French to become fully integrated into our French life. After a false start with a teacher in France we were beginning to become disheartened and finding Paul at Yorkshire French was a godsend! Paul is a fantastic language coach who has helped me tremendously over the course of the last 3 years. Whilst I had French A-Level, my technical use of the language was some 20 years out of date so Paul had to very quickly ground me in the rules for the road! After then, the focus was on providing a strong foundation for business use as my job role is based in Belgium. I continue to make improvements, most noticeably in my confidence and use of more technical grammar. I really enjoy our lengthy “quoi de neuf” discussion and “verb of the week” quiz where I get to put everything I learn into practice.
